Hsu Chen-wei's portrait
[edit]Hello! I see your "speedy deletion request" for the file I uploaded for Hsu Chen-wei. On the website, there has a statement which falls under GWOIA template. (https://www.hl.gov.tw/cp.aspx?n=32789) Hoshi Ogiwara (talk) 20:41, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- According to the bottom of the website, none of the content is under a free license. All the best -- Chuck Talk 20:44, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- Okay thanks for letting me know. I didn’t notice that message - most of the city/county government does not have that. Have a great day! Hoshi Ogiwara (talk) 20:49, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
Licenses
[edit]The screnshots where comes from the Rihanna video are from Vogue Taiwan and this video is licensed with Creative Commons license on YouTube, do you know that some YouTube videos have these CC Licenses on there? Please, see the video and check ther "see more" section, you will fount that it has a Creative Commons license on there, thanks!! RevengerTime (talk) 01:50, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I do understand that, but the correct way to challenge my speedy tag is to nominate the file for deletion rather than just remove the speedy tag. Removal of speedy tags is considered vandalism. In addition, Vogue Taiwan wouldn't have the ability to release video taken by the Vogue in the US, as they didn't produce the video have no copyright claim (the parent company would be able to release it, but not a unrelated subsidiary) under creative commons.

- Hi Chuck, while speedy deletion tags should not be removed in general, in some cases it is acceptable to remove them, as it happens in this case. I have no reason to believe Vogue Taiwan has no right to release their material under that CC license. A better approach, as you say, is to nominate them for deletion but in this case I don't think there's a reasonable doubt that the material was not released legitimately under the license. The Wikipedia article for Vogue includes Vogue Taiwan among " 11 of these editions are published by Condé Nast" Bedivere (talk) 02:10, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for clearing that up. This was entirely my fault, and I completely deserve the edit warring block. All the best -- Chuck Talk 02:27, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking it lightly (in a good sense). I appreciate your efforts countering copyright violations and out of scope files, but I have seen you have been a little harsh or overly-protective, in a way that could end up making some editors feel sensitive or harmed. As we say in Spanish, bájale un cambio, drop a change :-) Bedivere (talk) 02:42, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- No problem! Commons should really consider importing some of enWiki's trout.... All the best -- Chuck Talk 03:35, 6 June 2024 (UTC)

File:Vote 2929 - João Caproni Pimenta para deputado federal em São Paulo.jpg
[edit]This file is actually an artwork (thumbnail) from the video. Just search on Youtube. It fits on the criteria of free-license of Wikimedia Commons, since it was uploaded with this tag on it. If the video is uploaded with a free-license, isn't the thumbnail also a free art to use?
License: Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed).
