Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the holiday season are make-or-break moments for eCommerce businesses. With shoppers flooding search engines and scrolling for the best deals, this is your golden opportunity to maximize sales.

These high-traffic days come with fierce competition, and standing out is no easy feat—especially for smaller eCommerce businesses with tight budgets. The surge in holiday shoppers makes search engine visibility essential, but competing against countless retailers demands a smart, targeted approach.

To cut through the noise, your SEO strategy needs to be focused and impactful, driving results where they matter most.

In this webinar, Lindsay Halsey, Co-Founder of Pathfinder SEO, outlines seven key points for maximizing visibility, engaging customers, and driving sales during the peak holiday season.

1. Use a Funnel Strategy for Keyword Research

Keyword research is foundational for SEO, but with so many things to consider, it can feel overwhelming. The key is to take a structured approach by organizing keywords according to a funnel strategy.

Start with keywords on content that build awareness, transition to those that focus on considering your products, and finally, incorporate these keywords on a conversion-focused copy.

This funnel approach aligns with customer journey stages and helps ensure that the business captures potential buyers at all stages. Since customers typically require multiple touchpoints before purchasing, covering every stage maximizes the chances of conversion.

2. Content Optimization is Essential

For eCommerce SEO, content is king. Optimizing category pages (like collection pages) can significantly improve search engine rankings. These pages should include:

  • Keyword-friendly headers
  • Brief introductions that describe each product category
  • FAQs answering common customer questions
  • Customer testimonials to build trust

These content elements serve two purposes: they help your pages rank for relevant keywords and enhance the user experience by providing valuable information.

3. Leverage Automation to Scale Your Efforts

With many products to manage, eCommerce sites benefit from automation tools for scalability. Plugins like Yoast, All-in-One SEO, and RankMath enable businesses to set up templates for page titles and meta descriptions, simplifying SEO implementation.

After setting up your product pages, focus on top-performing products by manually customizing titles and descriptions for added relevance.

Automation also makes it easier to handle technical tasks, such as batching 301 redirects or using regex for site redesigns. AI plugins are another tool that can help with alternative text for images.

4. Phasing SEO Work by Impact

The holiday rush makes it crucial to prioritize SEO work in a phased manner. Businesses can choose to phase work by:

  • Business impact (i.e., focusing on changes likely to yield the highest sales)
  • Search volume (i.e., addressing keywords that drive the most traffic)

For example, if certain category pages have high traffic potential, prioritize optimization efforts there. Phasing allows businesses to focus on high-impact areas first, ensuring resources are allocated to the most promising tactics.

5. Testing Strategies for Measurable Impact

Before fully committing resources, it’s wise to test SEO strategies on a small scale to measure impact. Identify three high-potential areas for improvement, such as product category pages needing introductory copy or old blog posts that could be revamped.

Implement changes on a limited basis (e.g., adding introductory copy to three top-performing collection pages) and monitor results for a few weeks. Testing helps refine strategies based on actual performance so that only effective tactics receive more investment.

6. Leverage Schema Markup for Product Pages

Schema markup provides structured data that Google and other search engines use to better understand content on your site. For eCommerce, this is especially valuable for product pages, as it helps search engines categorize your products more accurately. Google’s Rich Result Test is a simple way to verify that schema is correctly implemented on your pages.

7. Link Building Remains Important

Link building continues to be an important factor in SEO. Backlinks from authoritative sites boost your domain authority, and this makes it easier for your pages to rank.

Creating high-quality content is the best way to attract links organically, but a proactive outreach strategy can also be effective. Whether through guest blogging, partnerships, or influencer marketing, acquiring quality backlinks helps solidify your place in search rankings.

Seize the Season with Strategic SEO Tactics

Stand out from the competition with an SEO approach that not only drives traffic but also creates a seamless, informative, and engaging shopping experience for customers.

By leveraging smart keyword targeting, optimized content, automation, and strategic testing, you can drive more visibility, attract holiday shoppers, and boost conversions. With the right tactics in place, your business won’t just keep up with the holiday rush—it’ll thrive.

As the saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” On your WordPress site, it can also be worth increased engagement and improved user experience.

Corey Maass, with more than 25 years of web development experience, shares key tips on optimizing images for success in this webinar.

The Importance of Images for Websites

Corey highlights how important images are for boosting user engagement, increasing conversion rates, and improving SEO. He explains that websites without relevant, high-quality images miss out on many opportunities.

Content with images gets 94% more views than text-only content. People also remember information better when paired with images. Additionally, articles that include images get twice as many social media shares.

There are two main types of images used online: photos (real-world images taken with a camera) and graphics (computer-generated images like illustrations, clip art, and infographics).

Colors and Their Emotional Impact

Colors are one of the first things our brains notice in an image, and they can greatly affect how we feel. For example, the colors red, blue, and green can each trigger different emotions.

Red often brings out strong feelings like excitement, urgency, or even anger. That’s why it’s often used in warning signs—red grabs our attention and signals danger or something important.

Blue, however, tends to create a sense of calm and trust. This is why many banks and social media platforms use blue in their branding—it makes people feel safe. Green is another color that’s tied to nature and health, which is why companies focused on sustainability or wellness often choose it.

When selecting images or designing graphics for a website, it’s important to consider how different colors affect emotions.

Rules for Creating Good Images

Corey shares some basic photography tips to help create visually appealing images.

First, there’s the rule of thirds. This means dividing your image into nine equal parts and placing important elements along these lines for a balanced look.

Another tip is symmetry and balance, where you create a pleasing image by balancing elements, like light and dark objects.

Corey also highlights the use of natural lines to guide the viewer’s eye to the main subject of the photo. Additionally, including objects in the foreground, middle, and background helps add depth to your images.

Importance of Images on Websites

Using high-quality, relevant images on your website is very important. Your images should also send a clear message. Pick ones that stir emotions and encourage actions, like getting readers to click a link or keep reading.

Furthermore, Corey advises against using memes or trendy images that can quickly become outdated. Instead, use images that stay meaningful over time.

Lastly, each image should support the story or purpose of the webpage. Avoid visuals that are irrelevant or distracting.

Trends in Web Imagery

In the webinar, Corey talks about some current design trends that can make a website look more appealing. These include round illustrations, 90s-style graphics with retro elements, and squiggly clip art for a fun, playful vibe.

If you’re not taking your own photos, Corey suggests using free image resources like Unsplash, Pexels, Pixabay, Stock Vault, and Freepik. These sites offer high-quality stock photos for free.

While AI-generated images are getting better, the quality can still be inconsistent, so use them carefully. Corey also stresses the importance of following copyright and licensing rules when using images from these sources.

Optimizing Images for WordPress

WordPress supports two main types of images: featured images, which are the main images for blog posts or pages, and in-content images, which are added throughout the content.

Featured images are especially important for archive pages, even if not displayed on individual posts.

In the webinar, Corey provides a few technical tips for using images effectively: use JPEGs for photos and PNGs for graphics, resize images before uploading to avoid large file sizes, and use tools like Compress JPEG or PNG to reduce file size without losing quality.

It’s also crucial to optimize images for mobile and add ALT text for accessibility.

Images Can Define Your Website Success

In today’s highly visual digital landscape, images are powerful tools that can elevate your online presence. Using them strategically on your website can significantly enhance your content and attract more engagement.

A well-chosen image can captivate your audience and make a lasting impression, while poor use of it can undermine your online efforts.

Is your website truly working for you, or is it just another expense? In today’s competitive digital landscape, your website should be a money-making asset. So it’s very important to be mindful of your website’s ROI.

Our webinar’s guest speaker, Brandy Lawson, is a website and digital marketing expert. She will share practical tips on how to get the most return from your website.

This webinar offers a clear guide to help you plan, implement, evaluate, and improve your website strategy. By the end of her talk, you’ll get a full grasp on how to maximize your website ROI for your business’s success.

Your Website Is An Asset

Brandy stressed that your website should be seen as a valuable part of your business, not just a cost. Think of your website as an asset.

But before investing in a website, it’s important to be clear about what you want it to do. Is your goal to generate leads, improve customer experience, or something else?

If you don’t clearly define your website’s purpose, it will be hard to know how to invest in it or measure its value.

On the other hand, when you clearly understand the results you’re after, you can more easily determine the functionalities and features that are needed on your website.

Maximizing Your Website ROI

In the webinar, Brandy highlighted that a beautiful website isn’t always a successful one. What matters most is how well it works for your customers. It’s not about how you see your website, but how your customers experience it.

When designing your website, start with the basics and gradually improve it along the way. Focus on features that enhance user experiences, like clear calls to action, mobile-friendliness, and intuitive layout.

Think about what your visitors need and how to make their journey on your site as simple as possible.

Specify The Role Of Your Website

Just like an employee, Brandy also mentioned that you should give your website a job description. Websites can wear a lot of hats and they can take on a lot of more roles over time. But you’re not likely to be very successful if you’re trying to give your website six different jobs immediately.

Its role can be sales (through lead generation), marketing, customer service, or a combination of roles. But the most important thing is that you need to be specific on the role you’d like your website to take.

Once you know what job (or jobs) your website can do, then you can create a detailed plan on how your website will execute the job.

It’s also important to build your website in stages. Always remember that you can’t do everything at once. Building a website is an ongoing process. Start simple, get it working, and then make improvements as you go.

Measure and Track Your Website Success

Brandy also mentioned the importance of regularly checking your website’s metrics such as traffic, bounce rates, conversion rates, and others. These data will help you understand how well your site is performing and where improvements are needed.

Additionally, tracking metrics over time helps identify trends, monitor the impact of updates, and adjust your marketing efforts. Without tracking, you’re left guessing, which can lead to wasted resources and missed opportunities.

In short, tracking metrics ensures your website is a proactive, data-driven tool that evolves with your business needs and audience preferences.

Your Website ROI Matters

Maximizing your website’s ROI requires careful planning, setting clear business goals, and regularly tracking performance. Your website is not a one-time project but an evolving asset that needs ongoing investment and strategic adjustments to deliver real business results.

By focusing on functionality, defining clear outcomes, and continuously optimizing, you can turn your website into a powerful tool for growth.

Without knowing it, AI has become a regular part of our daily lives, from filtering spam in your email to suggesting music and streaming shows. On May 14, 2024, an AI update by Google integrated into their search engine was introduced to everyone in the US.

But how does this impact your website’s SEO?

In this webinar, we’ll provide a realistic view of the AI update by Google and how it could affect your business. Pam Aungst Cronin, President of Pam Ann Marketing and an expert in SEO, PPC, and analytics, will share valuable insights on what to expect moving forward.

AI Overviews: The New AI Update of Google

Google has introduced a new AI feature called “AI Overviews,” similar to ChatGPT. It appears in search results to give quick, summarized answers at the top of the page.

These AI-generated summaries are designed to handle more complex questions that would usually need multiple searches to answer.

In the webinar, Pam pointed out that this feature isn’t killing search engines but is instead evolving them by integrating AI. She adds that while some feared it would reduce website traffic, it actually gives optimized websites a chance to rank higher.

AI Overviews vs. Featured Snippets

Pam also mentioned the difference between the AI Overviews and Featured Snippets. According to her, they both provide quick answers in Google searches, but they work in different ways.

AI Overviews use a large language model (LLM) to summarize data from various places, making them more dynamic. They can show multiple summaries for complex questions.

Featured Snippets, however, usually give a simple, clear answer from a single, trusted source, often in the form of a short paragraph or list.

Overall, the user experience with each is different. AI Overviews make searches more interactive by offering diverse insights. On the other hand, Featured Snippets are more static, focusing only on providing a direct answer to the query.

SEO is Not Dead

Even though AI is becoming more important in search, SEO is far from dead. And this is highlighted by Pam several times in the webinar.

While AI is changing how search engines work, it doesn’t mean traditional SEO is disappearing. Instead, it’s evolving. Pam believes that we are now moving towards “AI Optimization,” where understanding how AI ranks content is just as important as optimizing for search engines.

And on a business standpoint, Pam believes that Google won’t allow search engines to just die, since they still rely heavily on search to generate profit. In 2023 alone, search advertising brought in $175 billion for Google, showing how critical it is to their business.

The core SEO principles will still play a big role in how websites are ranked as AI continues to grow in search.

Optimizing for the Future

To succeed with SEO in the AI era, it’s crucial to understand how systems like Google’s AI Overviews choose content.

The first thing you need to do is to focus on creating high-quality content. AI looks for clear, well-researched information. So it’s important to structure your content with short, direct answers at the top. This makes it easier for AI to pick up relevant information and increases the chances of your content being featured in these summaries.

Having a well-organized content structure is also key. Using clear headings and starting with simple points, followed by more detailed explanations, helps both readers and AI understand your content better.

Final Thoughts on Google’s AI Update

Overall, Pam encouraged users not to fear AI’s impact but to embrace it as part of the evolving SEO landscape. She further emphasized the importance of continuing to create high-quality, experience-driven content to succeed in this new environment.

As AI continues to shape the way people search online, it’s important to stay informed. Google’s AI Overviews and other AI-driven features are still evolving, so businesses need to keep up with these changes. By staying updated on industry trends, you can adjust your content strategy accordingly to stay competitive.

Learning to use the Block Editor is essential if you use WordPress for your website.

Recently, we held a webinar called Blog Editor 101. Alfredo Navas, a senior front-end engineer from Web Dev Studios, led this session and shared his deep knowledge with the attendees.

The webinar focused on the WordPress Block Editor and its big impact on web development today.

Introduction to Block Editor

Before Block Editor, WordPress had a classic editor that was similar to traditional word processors and limited in design flexibility. The launch of the Block Editor with WordPress 5.0 was a major change. It completely transformed how content is created and managed.

Alfredo Navas explained how the editor uses a block-based system, where every piece of content, like text, images, or videos, is its own block. This method makes managing content easier and allows for more control and flexibility in design right within the editor.

Detailed Demonstration of Using Blocks

Alfredo also demonstrated practical features like Navigation Blocks. This lets users build and manage website menus visually without needing to code. He showed how these blocks can be customized and adjusted for different screen sizes.

Then, he went on to discuss how users can directly change styles such as text color, background, and font size from the editor interface, eliminating the need for custom code or plugins.

Template Parts: Understanding Patterns and Templates for Theme Developers

The webinar also covered more advanced topics like the use of template parts and a pattern library.

Alfredo described template parts as reusable design elements that help maintain consistency across a website. For example, if you design a header that you want to appear on every page, you’d create it as a template part.

On the other hand, patterns in the Block Editor are pre-designed layouts or blocks that you can insert into your posts and pages. They’re meant to be used as-is or customized on a case-by-case basis.

Template parts provide structural consistency and efficiency for global elements, while patterns offer creative flexibility and convenience for specific content layouts. Both tools are powerful in streamlining site design and enhancing the user experience.

Advanced Features and Customization

Font Management

Font management was another key topic in the webinar. Alfredo explained how custom fonts can be added directly through the Block Editor.

Uploading new fonts typically involves adding them to your theme’s assets and enqueued correctly in the theme’s functions file. Once done, these fonts appear in your editor’s font options list.

Creating Responsive Layouts

Alfredo also shared tips on making your site mobile-friendly using navigation blocks and style adjustments.

With the Block Editor, you can change things like font sizes, spacing, and how images are arranged to look better on mobile screens.

You make these changes through simple settings in each block, which lets you see and adjust how your content looks on different devices right away.

Pattern Library Usage

Using a pattern library can make your design process much easier, especially when you’re building and updating websites.

A pattern library is a collection of UI design elements. As your website grows, you’ll need to make sure you have a consistent user interface that keeps you from being overwhelmed.

Having a consistent pattern library that everyone uses also makes maintenance simpler. When everyone uses the same coding standards for elements, it’s much easier for a developer to work on someone else’s code.

Wrapping Up

This webinar offered important tips on using modern web development tools effectively. It was especially useful for those wanting to improve their skills with WordPress’s Block Editor, providing detailed information from an industry expert.

As more parts of the WordPress admin use blocks, it becomes increasingly important to be familiar with the Block Editor.

Artificial intelligence is no longer just a buzzword. It has become a transformative tool for digital creators using WordPress. The webinar, “AI Crash Course for WordPress Users” with guest speaker Keanan Koppenhaver from FloorboardAI, dives deep into the innovative ways AI, particularly generative AI, can enhance content creation, from writing text to generating images and coding.

But while this technology can be highly efficient, it’s still best operated with human guidance. This is what the entire webinar focused on, giving tips and best practices on how to use AI in your work. Because as the saying goes, “A sword is only as good as the man who wields it.”

AI in Text Generation

When it comes to writing content, AI tools are revolutionizing how text is generated.

By now, you may already be familiar with ChatGPT. Developed by OpenAI, ChatGPT has taken the world by storm since it was first released in public last November 2022, only taking just 2 months before it reached 100 million users.

AI tools like ChatGPT assist in creating comprehensive blog posts, concise summaries, and structured outlines, facilitating a seamless content creation process. For WordPress users, this means enhanced productivity as AI can quickly generate drafts that writers can refine and personalize.

In this webinar, Keanan demonstrated how effective command prompting can generate outstanding text results. He has also shown specific command prompts that can further refine your writing skills.

AI in Image Generation

The visual aspect of digital content cannot be understated, and AI’s role in image generation is groundbreaking.

Tools such as DALL-E, integrated with ChatGPT, allow the creation of custom images that align perfectly with the textual content.

Keanan highlighted the importance of specificity when prompting your commands, especially in image generation. According to him, you can produce a higher-quality image by providing more context to the command prompt.

In addition to DALL-E integrated with ChatGPT, there are other AI tools available for image generation, such as Midjourney and Stable Diffusion. Even Adobe Photoshop now features its own AI-driven image generation capabilities.

AI in Code Generation

On the technical side, AI is transforming code generation for WordPress developers.

ChatGPT and other Large Language Models (LLMs) can reliably generate structured code because, fundamentally, code is just highly structured text. For instance, ChatGPT can produce code snippets and explanations upon request.

More integrated solutions like GitHub’s Copilot and Cursor enhance this further by embedding AI directly within coding environments. Copilot suggests code based on the extensive data available on GitHub, while Cursor, a sophisticated AI-first code editor, not only generates code but also offers tailored advice by analyzing the specific context of your project.

In this webinar, Keanan demonstrated how Cursor can be used to generate code. During the demonstration, it was shown that this kind of automation speeds up coding time and reduces errors for developers.

Another tool that was presented by Keanan in the webinar was Make Real by TLDraw. It is an infinite collaborative white canvas where you can bring to life the things you’ve sketched out or wireframed on the whiteboard.

The Future is AI

At the end of the day, “AI Crash Course for WordPress Users” highlights the crucial integration of AI in modern web development and content management.

But while AI enhances efficiency and creativity, human insight and intervention are still irreplaceable.

Knowing this, the balance between leveraging cutting-edge technology and maintaining human oversight is vital for success in the digital space.

With tax season upon us, we are joined in this webinar with our guest speaker, Jeremy Doorn, to go over common questions people have regarding a variety of tax-related topics.

The more you know, the easier it is to manage taxes, whether you’re a freelancer or a corporate owner. In this video, Jeremy provides detailed explanations to help you understand just what is required in certain circumstances.

Taxes Don’t Have to Be a Nightmare

Knowledge is pivotal when it comes to avoiding making major mistakes on your taxes. With so much information out there, it’s tough to find the right answers to your questions.

However, it’s worth the effort to dig deep to find the answers you need before filing. It could help prevent mistakes as well as open the doors to actually reducing your taxes or getting a refund.

It’s our hope that this webinar will help answer some of those questions you might have.

Keep in mind that everyone’s taxes are different. Yet, a lot of us will have similar situations, especially when it comes to dealing with clients and contractual obligations.

The trick is to not stress about tax season. Take the time to understand your requirements and provide the best information you can to the IRS.

Make Your Tax Season More Bearable

There is a lot of information out there regarding taxes. And the more you know, the easier it is to file your forms correctly. Take time to verify factual information this season and lift some weight off your shoulders.

The last thing you want is for the IRS to inform you there is a problem with your taxes.

I’d like to take the time to thank Jeremey Doorn for helping us with this webinar. The information you share in the video is insightful and informative, and we hope to have you on again next year.

Search engine optimization is constantly changing. In this webinar, we look at how to use SEO trends in 2023 to our advantage. Thanks to our guest speaker, Pam Aungst Cronin, you’ll be ahead of the game.

The insights and information in this webinar can help you secure your space on the Internet and the search results page of Google.

What Happened in SEO for 2022?

Before you can look toward the future, you need to understand the past. In this case, Pam goes over some of the biggest changes in 2022 and how they are affecting content going forward.

For example, artificial intelligence has exploded over the past few months. While some aspects of AI can be helpful when developing a content strategy, you should never completely trust it to entirely create your content.

Google recently pushed the “people writing for people” agenda, which means they want more casual and interactive tones in content. Speaking from your own experiences goes a long way to meeting those guidelines.

Not to mention how it helps you deliver content from a unique perspective.

Going Forward with SEO Trends in 2023

In this webinar, Pam demonstrates the more profound trends happening in SEO for the year. She also shows just how you can take advantage of those trends before your competition.

Perhaps one of the more interesting aspects is that of GA4. Google Analytics is going to change, and you need to use the data from the new version 4 platform. However, the layout has much to be desired.

Pam shows how you can take advantage of the tracking tool by using a new app that is developed by Google themselves.

Another aspect to consider is brand optimization and automation. Because there is so much involved with growing a brand online, anything you can do to streamline the process is greatly beneficial.

Do you have a YouTube channel? Not only does video content give you another audience to tap online, but it also improves recognition in Google search itself. That’s because Google uses YouTube content as part of its search results page.

This is just a handful of information you’ll find within this video, and Pam does a great job explaining what you can do to take advantage of each aspect of SEO trends.

The important takeaway from this webinar is understanding how these SEO trends are going to affect your site whether you take action or not.

If you approach some of the trends in the wrong way, you could inadvertently make ranking on Google more difficult in the long run.

How Are You Utilizing SEO Trends?

As I said in the beginning, SEO is constantly evolving and changing. The goal of Google is to put the very best answers in front of those searching for information. This means the platform is always in a state of fine-tuning the results.

The trick is to identify when these trends are happening while developing a strategy to boost your visibility. In this video, Pam shows just how vital these elements are.

I’d like to thank Pam for helping us put together this webinar. The information was amazing, and I can’t wait to implement a few things she suggested.

For instance, I had no idea the Analytics app even existed!

What are you doing to identify trends and implement them in your content strategy?

Creating a brand style guide helps others understand why content is set up a certain way for the brand. In this webinar, our guest speaker, Maddy Osman, goes over why these style guides are essential and how to create one.

What is a Brand Content Style Guide?

Essentially, a content style guide is a reference to help writers, editors, and clients understand how and why certain things are laid out in a specific way.

Much like how brands have color schemes, specific font types, and precise aesthetics, they also have a certain flow for the content. And when a style guide is prepared, it keeps everyone in sync with how and why you do things the way you do.

In this video, Maddy explains more of the text side of the style guide. She also explains a few of the visual elements that are necessary.

Why Does a Content Style Guide Matter?

Content is king. Whether it’s in a text format or setting up YouTube videos, having a good flow of how to create that content makes the process easier.

Sure, you could always just “wing-it” when it comes to content. However, there are some great benefits when you build a content style guide. And Maddy breaks down why it matters in this webinar.

Streamlining the Process

When you have a style guide available, it helps keep everyone on the team on the same page. This helps reduce the time you spend editing that content to make it fit your website’s theme and flow.

Even if you’re working by yourself, a structure of how you create content will reduce how much time you spend on the piece. Especially if you have it tailored specifically for your audience.

Consistency and Professionalism

Consistency in how certain types of content are set up gives your site a more elegant appearance. Instead of seeming haphazard with structure, people know what to expect from certain types of articles from you.

Think of it like building a home. Every house has a door, a roof, walls, and a foundation. Now, every structure will use different materials, but all homes have these elements.

In this case, it’s the text that is used as those “materials,” but following the building layout gives the content a strong structure. And the best way to do that is by following a specific blueprint.

Engaging Your Target Audience

Your target audience is the most important aspect of building any kind of website. As such, you want to deliver content that is effective at getting and keeping their attention.

Content styling specifically for those people will greatly increase the chances of them coming back, subscribing to email notifications, or otherwise interacting with the content.

Visual Styling Matters

The style of your content will bring visitors in from a search result. But it’s the visual elements that will keep them on your website. And since humans are a visual-first species, the styling will make a big difference in engagement.

This means things like logo, typography, and color are vastly important to your brand style.

In this video, Maddy goes over the most important aspects of visual styling including different types of graphics to accentuate the content.

Streamline Your Content Process

Creating content that people want to read is the cornerstone of success. Nonetheless, it takes more than the best keywords or phrases to really engage your audience.

After all, you want them to come back, right?

Setting up a content style guide for your brand, whether you’re a blogger or run a large business, will make a difference in how your audience perceives that brand.

I’d like to thank Maddy Osman for this informative webinar and look forward to trying out a few of these tips.

Web design is an important element when building a site. It can influence whether someone leaves or explores the content. And in this webinar, our guest speaker, Lee Levy, will show you the best practices of design to engage your audience.

In some cases, the simplest of changes can mean the world of difference for audience retention.

Keep in mind that every moment a potential customer or client is not on your website, that’s another moment they are on someone else’s.

In this video, Lee provides statistics relating to how people interact with websites on average. This is an important element to consider as you only have so much time to grab the visitor’s attention.

Thus, the importance of best web design practices.

Things You Need to Show

When we talk about “web design,” it goes further than just how it appears in a browser. While the layout and color scheme are important aspects to consider, it’s also about functionality.

This includes elements that show who you are and what your business does at a quick glance. In this video, Lee goes over the importance of these elements and how they will impact how people perceive your website.

Site Performance

How your website performs is incredibly important for attracting and keeping an audience. Things like website speed can keep people interacting with the content while pleasing the Google algorithm.

This is because Google puts great emphasis on page speed when determining positions in search.

Lee goes over vital statistics regarding why speed is an exceptionally important aspect of web design. This is in addition to breaking down some of the common things that cause a site to run slowly.

The best part is that many of these things can easily be changed quite quickly.

If you need help testing the speed of your site, Lee shows you several tools that are incredibly popular and accurate. In fact, we’ve mentioned these in many of our own posts and tutorials.

Since these are free to use, you can start testing immediately without losing anything but a minute or two of your time.

Testing is only part of improving website performance. You’ll need to take action to fix any issues you come across. In this video, Lee explains caching plugins and how they help as well as keeping the clutter on the site to a minimum.

The Color Scheme

The visual appeal of your site will make a difference in keeping visitors engaged and coming back for more. This means there is a bit of color psychology involved in coming up with the right color scheme.

In this webinar, Lee goes over how to choose your colors wisely and what you need to consider when picking and customizing a theme.

This includes the type of “emotion” you wish to draw from when people see your pages.

A good color scheme is why a lot of developers rely on palettes. They can help you set the tone of your content while calling attention to various elements.

Don’t Forget the Fonts

The typography of your content goes a long way to keeping people scrolling down the page. If it’s too small or blends in with the background, your text becomes too difficult to read. This often results in people leaving the site and never coming back.

In fact, one of Google’s “problem” codes will inform you of both of these factors when its bot crawls across your website.

A font that is too small to read is especially problematic for mobile device users.

In this video, Lee shows the different types of fonts, how you should use them, and what colors work best.

There Are Many Elements of Web Design

The above is just a small fraction of the things you’ll learn in this webinar. Be sure to watch the video above as Lee goes over some of the most crucial elements of good web design.

After all, your website is essentially an introduction to who you are. Something that is haphazard and designed poorly could easily turn potential customers, subscribers, fans, and supporters away within a handful of seconds.

Be sure to deliver the best virtual first impression possible.
